In Macro Photography it matters how small the subject is that you choose to photograph. The subject should not be larger than 2 cm ( 3/4 inch) and it has to be captured life size or larger on the recording media ( on film or on the digital sensor).Anything with a magnification ratio of 1:1 (life size) and above ( 1:1 , 5:1, etc.) is by definition considered Macro Photography.
